Writing & Research

Nina has a Bachelors in Journalism and a degree in Political Science. She worked as a copy editor while participating as a fellow at the Poynter Institute. In tandem with design projects she digs into product writing in her work. Nina has been a guest writer for VisualEditors but now hangs out at her own blog.





What are we going to do about the news?

During the second and final year of graduate school I worked on a research and design project related to news, design and storytelling. I created Newskite, a platform to engage people around the world about major global current affairs. I presented my capstone (that's like a design thesis) to my faculty and peers at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana and to alum and friends via ustream.

Researching Newspaper Design in London

An indepth look at the visual communication of the major metropolitan and evening newspapers in London. Conducted through City University, London, and Arcadia University in April 2008. This academic study considers visual language, navigation, readability, price, circulation and format. I had the opportunity to talk with professionals in the field like The Guardian's Special Projects Director, Mark Leeds, The London Paper initial designer Alfred Trivino and CEO of VisualEditors.com, Robb Montgomery.

Poynter Summer Fellows: Media Editor

I worked in a role new for the Summer Fellows Program as an Editor Producer. Training was received by professional, award-winning and nurturing copy and video editors. Content is temporarily unavailable.



Majority Report: Editing for the Office for Women's Affairs

Maintained magazine as Assistant Editor. Responsibilities included developing magazine theme, story ideas, assigning articles, headline writing, primary edits and full redesign.
